Age, sex, length, coded-wire tag, and genetic sampling of the commercial East side set gillnet harvest in Cook Inlet. During and after the East side set gillnet fishery openings, samplers will travel to receiving sites for fish processing plants after each tide and sample available Chinook salmon for genetic tissue, age, sex, and length composition information, and coded-wire tags. As many receiving sites as possible will be sampled, many being sampled more than once. Samplers will collect as many Chinook salmon samples as possible while distributing sampling effort throughout the area. Results from harvest samples collected in 2010, 2011, and 2013 revealed that, on average, Kenai River mainstem Chinook salmon composed the majority (69%) of the salmon harvest.
